The Vast Wasteland that is Facebook. Hardly!

Here are a few of my Facebook posts from the last week –  for those of you who don’t play well with others.

When someone starts a sentence with “I’m not gonna lie,” or “To be perfectly honest,” my next thought is “Crud – that means the rest of the time they are lying to me.”

I used to have a lawn service, until I remembered that I love my kids.
My son just told me that I am a lot funnier online than I am in real life.
Who isn’t?
Elder Richard G. Scott said: “Technology, when understood and used for righteous purposes, need not be a threat but rather an enhancement to spiritual communication.”
Everyone else in the Church says: “I swear this was working when I tried it at home.”
Saturday I was struggling to re-wire an wall outlet. It was frustrating until I remembered what Harold B. Lee said: “The most important of the Lord’s work you will ever do will be the work you do within the walls of your own home.”
At what point will society realize that one of the most destructive things a parent can do is to wish fame upon their children?
Things my kids will never say: “Hang up the phone- I need to use the computer!”
Jesus would say, “He who hath ears, let him hear.” I wonder if anyone ever turned to him and said, “I don’t get it.”
I heard they are canceling the Martin Harris Pageant in Logan, because the Director’s wife lost the script.
(OK, I’m not gonna lie…I really posted these so I could have a record of them, before they are lost to the world. Which would be tragic. OK, not really tragic, but I want my kids to have them in case they need material for my eulogy.)

  1. The hang up the phone one is great. I remember my mom telling me to turn the Internet off so she can call someone…

One thing I’m sad about is my kids will never know the joy of slamming down a telephone to hang it up

  2. I make annual family yearbooks, because I used to be awesome at blogging our family things. This year the book will be entirely of facebook status updates.

  3. I don’t ‘really’ know you but I can honestly say that you don’t need to worry about there being enough things to put in your eulogy.
The post about wishing fame upon your children…that came after the Miley Cyrus debauchery, right? I was thinking along these lines not long ago in connection with my teenage self. My memory may be fading but some of the past is still clear as a bell. I used to pour over movie magazines in the early 50’s and wish that I was pretty, talented, and famous. My gratitude that I wasn’t is overwhelming.

  4. My wife and I were discussing Facebook the other day, we couldn’t understand why we dislike it so much yet we go there so often. I do miss the old version of Farmville though.
