I Love “Ordinary Love”

Ordinary love cap

Most of you probably know by now that I am a big U2 fan. I have been since 1980. (Yes, that would be 33 years ago.)

They just released a new song for the soundtrack of the Nelson Mandela biopic, “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” that is coming out next month.

The movie interests me because Africa has been part of my life. I have participated in humanitarian work, and know much of the strength and struggles there. One day I will share.

I have walked through Nelson Mandela’s old home, which has been converted into a museum. It is sobering, and inspiring at the same time.

I chose this video, because it shows the lyrics. Reading, and listening seems to impact me more.

(There are a lot of U2 haters, because of the music, or Bono’s ego, or his preaching. I get that. But I like them anyway.)

Enjoy…

  1. I “grew up” on U2…..I, like you, love them- plain and simple! We must be around the same age….
Is Bono any more egotistical than any other musician of this generation? I think not!
The U2 concert in SLC 2 years ago was the best! I was telling my 18 year old niece how awesome the concert was- she replied with “now who is U2 again?” Sigh…..never. Felt. Older than I did in that moment!

  2. Yeah, when I try to pull it up, it says it is blocked because it contains copyrighted material from UMG.

    1. I popped in a different link – if it still doesn’t work, head over o YouTube and search for “Ordinary Love” U2.

  3. Something about the sound of Bonos voice touches my soul. Nothing else matters. 🙂 thanks for sharing!

  4. Hi,

I can’t see the video, is there something new in the way you are posting them?
    Thanks
    Nan

  5. I love U2, this is amazing, thank you for sharing this. What part of Africa? My brother lived in Guinea for two years when he served in the Peace Corp, it changed him in many ways. That was my bro’s other mission. Anyway, I’ve thought for a long time that you really do have great taste in music 🙂 I look forward to the day when you share your Africa experience. Have a wonderful day and thanks again for sharing.

  6. I don’t know as I’ve ever heard U2 before but I enjoyed that very much. Nelson Mandela is a hero of our time.

  7. Thank you for sharing! I know from personal experience that we cannot reach higher if we don’t have ordinary love.
