Thou Shalt Not Covet My Hovercraft

Hovercraft

Hey guys! Any of you remember this ad from Boy’s life? Yes, the mythical vacuum cleaner hovercraft.

It is the basis of my first “official” column over at LDS Living. It is about more than hovercrafts though, it is also an article about what it means to covet. (Might make for a good FHE.)

Please check it out!

  1. I am extremely grateful you thought to write this. I WILL be using it for an FHE. But mostly I feel it is for me. Having lost a lot of comforts in the last few years, it has been easy for me to feel jealous and frustrated with other’s seeming ease. That hasn’t done me ANY good. In fact, when I am honest with myself, I have gained SO VERY MUCH because of the struggles I have been through. These gains are things that NO ONE can ever take from me!!

I plan to print this article out and refer to it until I GET IT!!! You are a great teacher, MMM. Thank You!!!!

  2. Nice work, as usual. Definitely one of those areas where we tend to think the GAs must be talking about everybody but us. Something I need to watch out for more.

I wanted a clear plastic bubble to waft me to school and back. Yes, I had to walk uphill both ways through snow in miniskirts, without backpacks, hats, boots or gloves. I also wanted a horse REAL BAD.. But when Dad got a promotion, he lovingly bought me one. Fighting against coveting is very hard. But gratitude is the answer. I am glad there is only one bathroom to clean in my house!. I am glad my little car can turn on a dime and make a u-turn just about anywhere. I am glad when I see your column in my in box. Thanks for a good reminder.
