You’re All Winners! (It’s just some are more winners than others)

To celebrate my seventh blog birthday I found fantastic prizes to give away. I was also able to do this while spending less than $10. I was glad to see that seemingly mature adults would compete tooth-and-nail for their moment in the sun.

Let’s go!

Here are the top seven guessers, and the winning scriptures. (In case you forgot, the contest was to guess my favorite scripture in the Book of Mormon. The winners chose the scriptures that were closest in proximity to my choice.) I’ve included the scriptures because, in some cases, the choice represents the winner’s favorite. In some cases they are trying to anticipate my favorite – which nobody figured it out. There were tons of good guesses.

#7 – Barbara – Alma 37:37

“Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day.”

#6 – Amber – 3 Nephi 5:13

“Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.”

#5 – Elisabeth – Alma 48:17

“Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.”

#4 – Sharlene – 3 Nephi 1:13

“Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.”

#3 – Eric – Helaman 13:4

“And it came to pass that they would not suffer that he should enter into the city; therefore he went and got upon the wall thereof, and stretched forth his hand and cried with a loud voice, and prophesied unto the people whatsoever things the Lord put into his heart.”

#2 – Josh – Alma 60:16 (I’m not posting the actual verse – just what Josh said in his backhanded compliment kind of way. Smart guy.)

“My first thought for your favorite Book of Mormon verse was Jacob 6:12, short and sweet words of wisdom, but after reading 7 years of blog posts I know you tend to ramble on some so I’ll go with Alma 60:16. It’s the longest verse in the Book of Mormon and features Captain Moroni rambling a little about the value of unity within the church, something you’ve mentioned on more than one occasion.” (link to the actual scripture)

#1 – And the winner is…my soul-sister Viki –  Helaman 5:12 (Why am I not surprised?)

“And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty stormshall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.”

A prize-winning scripture, to be sure.

I will be contacting the winners for shipping instructions. Thanks to everyone for playing and celebrating with me.

Hang on. I feel like I am missing something…Oh, yeah. MY favorite scripture! On second thought, I think I will wait until Sunday’s blog post so I have time to explain myself.

Be patient.  🙂

  1. What is this “patience” thing of which you speak? And where can I find those particular paddles at that price, so my family can smack Santa in the face with a rubber ball too?
